It is one of the most famous paintings in the world: Rembrandt's "Night Watch." But can it be that millions of visitors to museums, and hundreds of scholars and scientists, have thus far not revealed the secret of the picture? British filmmaker Peter Greenaway ("The Belly of an Architect") believes he can prove that the painter uncovers a murder conspiracy in his painting. "Rembrandt's J'accuse" is a suspenseful crime investigation docu-drama, and a formal experiment. Greenaway shifts various layers of images and text as if using a computer screen, fixes up evidence, and stages scenes from Rembrandt's life. A masterful scrutiny of clues that sharpens any viewer's visual perception.
