What if we got in contact with extraterrestrials? How would we be able to communicate with them? In what way would humanity's understanding of itself be changed by that? What most take to be contemplations of remote import is taken very seriously by the members of SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) who feature in Prosper de Roos' documentary. Not only do they peruse radio telescope data for signs of intelligent extraterrestrial beings, but they also take an interest in all the philosophical, legal, and practical consequences of alien contact.
