A thriller fully in the Hitchcock vein, starring Harrison Ford as the 'man who knew too much.' Ford plays American physician Richard Walker, M.D., who is supposed to give a speech at a conference in Paris. When his wife inexplicably disappears from the hotel, the hotel staff, police, and even the American embassy react very calmly – maybe she has just eloped with a French lover? Walker conducts his own investigations, which leads him to a femme fatale played by then young Emmanuelle Seigner, whom Polanski married not long after shooting was completed.
