Town hall formats in the run-up to political elections, intimate conversations with notable figures, but also the likes of rollicking playboy entrepreneur Hugh Hefner, who receives his celebrity guests at his own house – new talk formats provide increasingly ambitious television programming choices, both regarding political communication and in terms of entertainment. Thematically open and comparably inexpensive to produce, talk formats are also virtually predestined for online distribution in a networked media landscape. The Cologne Conference invites high-profile international program creators and TV hosts and experts to examine the potential for new talk formats, which are, every so often, to some extent derived from existing program ideas.
Following the seminar, the Cologne Conference presents this year’s Kultnacht comprising seminal, legendary talk formats as well as undiscovered gems of the genre from international program archives.
