Somewhere in South America, in the early 1960s: shady manager "Principe" Orsini and East German power pack Jacob van Oppen are touring through provincial regions where they stage pre-arranged show fights. However, when they arrive in tiny, nondescript Santa Maria, complications come up: Orsini has run out of prize money, and mysterious Adriana wants to send her hulking fiancé into the ring against Jacob – but the latter refuses to lose. For lack of a better approximation, "Bad Day To Go Fishing" has been described as a "retro version of 'The Wrestler' in the Coen brothers' style." Uruguayan debut director Álvaro Brechner takes the audience away to a taciturn, melancholic, but also very droll world.
