Jimmy's dad wants to smash his son's arms with a hammer if he gets the feeling that music will destroy Jimmy's life. A threat to be taken seriously: he's currently serving a murder sentence. Jimmy is a patient in a mental institution. Things have gone down a steep hill for the 25-year-old. He was a celebrated guitar prodigy at age eight. The New York Times compared the Sinti boy to Django Reinhardt, and he signed a million-dollar contract with Sony as a teenager. But he began to take drugs, and couldn’t handle his fame. Dutch documentary film "Jimmy Rosenberg – The Father, the Son and the Talent" is a sensitive depiction of the tragic path of a one-of-a-kind guitarist and leaves a lot of room for his music.
