Undue preference is a form of discrimination, too. Mr Mamozais student driver is supposed to take the theory exam for her driving license, but she doesn’t even stand a chance of failing – the examiner tells her each and every answer in advance. Afghanistan has a long way to go to reach a state of normalcy, but at least women can once again learn to drive in a driving school in Kabul. British documentary filmmaker Sean Langan observes the every-day course of life in Mr Mamozai’s small establishment, providing a portrait – suddenly comical at times to the Western eye – of a city on the go, where driving tests are held in front of an audience, and every hit on a car’s brake prompts loudspeakers to blare Allah’s name into the passenger compartment.
