Helen is a housewife, her daughter is a teenage mother, and her husband Paul is a frustrated worker. Fights and money troubles rule the every day life of the family. When Helen’s daughter brings her fellow student Tasha along, Helen befriends her. She protects the young Roma girl from Czechia from vulgar harassments in the street and from Paul’s prejudices. When Helen makes a decision, Tasha and her mother are put in danger, and the family breaks up. Told from the perspectives of the three protagonists, the story takes turns to expose ever new facets. Jan Dunn’s feature film debut, shot in thirteen days with improvised dialogue, is the first British Dogma film.
