The Doctor is back. From 1963 to 1989, the extraterrestrial Doctor Who saved the world many a time from an endless chain of threats in the BBC series bearing his name. Then it was over, despite protests from fans throughout the world. Now Russell T. Davies, acclaimed creator of "Queer As Folk" and "The Second Coming", has aimed for a new generation in giving the science fiction series an effective facelift. The new episodes star Christopher Eccleston as the Doctor, who travels through time and space as the nonchalant savior of the world from living plastics or the collapse of the sun. His aide and sidekick is former pop starlet Billie Piper, who helps him better understand the strange humans they encounter.
