With failed school careers under their belts, Pascal, Jasmin and Patrick try to begin their professional lives. They have enrolled in the "Betrieb und Schule" (BUS) project in Cologne, where they are to complete a Hauptschulabschluss, the basic qualification usually earned after nine successful years of school, while simultaneously working in a company. With patience and humor the social report accompanies the protagonists in their endeavors at school, on the job and at home with their families. The film marks Claudia Indenhock’s graduation from the Kunsthochschule für Medien, Cologne.
