Pascale has split with Jan to begin a new life with their son Thomas and her
new boyfriend Didier. All of a sudden, and against their explicit agreement, Jan refuses to move out of their house and to accept his separation from his son. When old patterns in their relationship crop up again, Jan becomes more and more unpredictable in his desperation. The big house in the Ardennes turns from a refuge of hope into a site of escalating violence instead. "Folie privée", which has already won several festival awards, is Joachim Lafosse’s first fulllength film.
