Durchfahrtsland

The foothill villages between Cologne and Bonn are "Durchfahrtsland",
throughfare territory, a scattering of faceless, seemingly interchangeable
developed clusters. Only nightfall makes them shine with the haunting sheen of the oil refineries along the river Rhine. But to the people who live there, these foothills are the center of the world. One of them is Father Dümmer, who strives to reconcile two villages locked in bitter enmity for centuries. Another is Guiseppe, who revels in his local club’s activities, and its "Spielmannszug" marching band in particular - he is Italian much to his own chagrin. "Durchfahrtsland" is Kunsthochschule für Medien Cologne graduate Alexandra Sell’s debut feature film.
