1964:Wolfgang Stein tries to cross the border between East and West Germany with forged papers. The attempt fails, Stein is incarcerated and subjected to near fatal torture. At the beginning of the 70’s he is bought free and sets up a successful organization to help others flee the GDR. The Stasi launches Operation Scorpion - objective: Stein’s liquidation. But it isn’t until after the fall of the Berlin wall that Stein realizes who his real enemies are. With a bravura performance by Jörg Schüttauf as Stein, "Der Stich des Skorpion" explores a little-known chapter in the murky zone of East/West German relations in a suspenseful thriller about friendship, honor and betrayal.
