Drug squad detective Herbert Strähl is a pill-popping hothead not far from the edge of the abyss. He fights an embittered and hopeless battle against the Zurich drug scene, sometimes overstepping the boundaries of his authority. On the trail of a big time drug dealer he gets caught up with the junkie couple René and Carol. Strähl bungles the case and loses his job. Carol is young, wild and unpredictable – Strähl gets involved with her and risks becoming submerged in a vortex of violence and addiction. "Strähl", a classic cop film, is Swiss filmmaker Manuel Flurin’s final exam piece at the German Film and Television Academy, Berlin.
