A group of street children live in the Moscow underground rail station, one of the most beautiful in the world. Traumatized by early experiences of violence, and in spite of miserable conditions, they manage to find protection in group culture, to enjoy playing games and to dream of freedom - dreams sniffed out of a tube of glue. In a play of contrasts between artificial style and striking realism Celinski’s documentary plunges mercilessly into the children’s world, but offers moments of respite by retreating again to a safe distance. Andrzej Celinski is a graduate of the Krakow Theatre Acadmey and directs plays and performances. "Railway Station Ballad", made over a period of three years, is his first feature film and has won awards including the Grand Prix at the Biarritz FIPA.
