This year the Cologne Conference retrospective for the first time honors a film composer, and in so doing acknowledges the hugely significant contribution the score makes to the overall quality of a film or television production. Because film composers are mostly to be found hard at work in soundproof studios, few of them ever gaining a high public profile or much recognition outside of professional inner circles, we are especially pleased to have the privilege of welcoming to Cologne one of the globally acknowledged greats of this art form, Lalo Schifrin.
