After years spent covering the world’s hot spots, foreign correspondent Raimund Parz (Götz George) returns home to Bonn. For his family, the return of the prodigal patriarch, a man incapable of taking criticism, proves disastrous. Long repressed conflicts erupt - family as no-go area instead of safe haven. Supported by the subtle intensity of the cast, directors Stefan Krohmer and Daniel Nocke (“Sie haben Knut”, “Ende der Saison”) approach both characters and setting with a documentary-like precision that opens the seemingly straightforward family story up for a vast range of reflections and observations.
