NBC describes its latest hit series as “Rashomon meets Pulp Fiction”. Even if the comparisons are a bit grand, it describes the Boomtown style to a tee: The story of a crime and its resolution is told/retold by the various parties involved. Through the eyes of a district attorney, a journalist, and the detectives and police officers pursuing the case - all with different perspectives and vested interests - events are revealed to the viewer bit by bit until the full picture of what “really” happened becomes clear. With a top-notch cast and excellent scripts from Graham Yost (“Speed”,“Band of Brothers”), Boomtown is the outstanding series of the US fall season.
