Piazza Delle Cinque Lune

On 16. March, 1978, Aldo Moro, president of the Italian Christian Democrats, is taken hostage by the Red Brigade and, after 55 days of captivity, shot dead. 25 years later, Rosario Saracini (Donald Sutherland), a High Court judge in Sienna looking forward to impending retirement, receives an unexpected visit. The stranger shows him a super-8 film of the politician’s abduction and offers to give him the missing memoir’s that Moro had supposedly written during his captivity. Soon afterwards, the informant too is dead, and the mere knowledge of the existence of Moro’s journals proves to be life-threatening. Saracini, however, stays on the trial, which soon leads him into an opaque web of intrigue and betrayal. With the Moro murder, director Renzo Martinelli takes up a case that can easily be classified as Italy’s Kennedy assassination. Endless conspiracy theories involving collusion in the abduction between the Cosa Nostra and top-ranking politicians have grown up in recent years; every permutation of these speculations, however far-fetched, has been proved and refuted in turn. "Piazza Delle Cinque Lune” takes the myth of the Moro memoir’s into the nerve-rackingly suspenseful milieu of the polit-thriller. Outstanding performances from Donald Sutherland and F.
