Robert (Frederic Welter) is 18, brain damaged after a disco accident, and living with a family that could be characterized in a well-meaning way as ‘stubborn’. As if that weren’t bad enough, he develops an undying love for this therapist (Christiane Paul). For her part, she can’t choose between two men: the photographer Max (Günther Maria Halmer), slightly past his sell-by date, and Roland (Wotan Wilke Möhring), a successful young lawyer. From this material, which at first glance appears to be the making of nothing more than a melodrama, Torsten C. Fischer (Director) and Günter Schütter (Screenplay) created an equally absurd and touching love comedy, which definitely steers clear of all handicap-melodrama obstacles. The supporting cast, as part of an outstanding ensemble, deserves particular praise.
