The seasonal waitress Evi always lives at the edge, always moving at full throttle. She works hard, parties excessively and takes care of her six-year-old daughter. In the process, she constantly overtaxes herself and comes up against the limits of what she can endure mentally and physically. Alcohol is the magic drug that seems to hold her complex life together but which ultimately derails her. Sabine Derflinger's feature film debut benefits from her work as a documentary filmmaker. With precise, condensed and stylized observation, she reveals the core of her characters. For "Vollgas" she received the Promotional Jury Price at the Max Ophüls Festival 2002.
