Ticker is based on "Guilt", a short story by Judy Budnitz. In it the central character is plagued by guilt imposed on him by his female dominated, Jewish American environment. This has been adapted to Ireland and a tale of medical suspicion, irony and a man having to make a sacrifice for his mother. „A completely different way of making a film. Beautifully photographed and excellent use of soundtrack“, the jury judged about the winner in the non-professional category of the BBC’s young talent award „Choice Cuts“ 2001.
