Sainkho

Sainkho Namtchylak's voice is at times extremely deep, at times smooth and broken, at times clean and shrill. It nestles into drum'n bass electronic beats, hip hop, or jazz, and modulates the overtone style of singing found in Sainkho's homeland, the Republic of Tuva, bordering on Mongolia. For two years Erica von Moeller accompanied Sainkho in London, Vienna and Rome, filming concerts and capturing personal moments. The film, which examines different aspects of her wide-ranging musical expression and extraordinarily life, is an impressionistic portrait of an obsessive artist.
