When 21-year-old Chris Maurer is murdered on his way to work, best friend, brother-in-law and neighbour are all suspects. Delivering a twist on the familiar whodunit, Murder, however, centers on the impact the tragedy has on the victim’s mother, Angela, and those around her. Angela shocks people out of their complacency: a journalist responsible for a sensationalised report in the tabloid press, the police officers investigating the case, and the witness, who find the victim, but is unable to save his life. Through Angela’s transformation and the effect she has on the people around her we see how ordinary lives are altered forever in the aftermath of a violent crime. Oscar-nominated actress Julie Walters stars as the leading part in the second production of British newcomers Abi Morgan (Writer) and Rebecca de Souza (Producer).
