Can TV documentaries still move people today? This authentic film about a hospital in Afghanistan includes shocking scenes from the long-forgotten war in that country. Almost as a matter of course the stunning countryside is set in contrast to witnesses of the 20-year-long civil war. The unflinching depiction of daily tragedy and the suggestive use of music in a war documentary were very controversial. The documentary, which received several prizes, prompted Italians to make large donations to Afghanistan. Due to graphic scenes in an operation room, this film is not recommended for children or people who might be offended.
