A gripping TV movie based on a true story. Davey’s life is good: he has a job, an intact relationship, and lovely children. But the past catches up with him. He has to testify in court against supervisors of a home for children with learning disabilities who abused him as a child. In the end the confrontation with his past threatens to destroy his life. Antonia Bird (“The East enders,“ (“Priest“) has directed a shocking film, and the outstanding performance by Steven Macintosh (“Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels”) leaves a lasting impression. “Care” was voted “Best Single Drama” at the BAFTA 2001 and was a huge success after its premiere despite or because of the sensitive subject.
