Last year at this event we talked about the “German way” of comedy and the boom of comedy in Germany – and also, of course, about how the high quality of the formats and their success could be guaranteed for the future. This year the situation is not quite so clear. Sure enough, for the first time two German programmes (“Mircomania” and “TV total”) were awarded “Roses” in Montreux; on the national level, however, first signs of erosion may be detected. It is worthwhile, therefore, to look at how things will go on in the future. Are there genuinely new ideas, or just too many formats? Do we have enough good authors, or is the public simply overfed? And: what is the comedians’ feeling about the state of things?
These are the questions we will look at here. The participants of the panel discussion – comedians, producers of different formats – and the audience will have the opportunity to exchange ideas about the state of German comedy formats and to discuss the demands of the future.
