Elegant, with a bon-vivant attitude, attractive and equipped with a licence to kill: John Drake used to be the perfect gentleman-spy before Sean Connery defaeted Dr. No two years later. Th source of inspiration for the two agents was the same: in the early Sixties, during the climax of the cold war, spy literature was a bestseller. It was only a matter of time, until this pattern was transformed  to become suitable for Television. Even the successful James Bond series was taken from "Danger Man": an attractive principle actor surrounded by beautiful women and decorated with a number of "gadgets", stunnging technical tricks, which enable Drake to escape from the most miserable situations.
