77 Sunset Strip was the advent of a flood of successful detective stories in the beginning of the Sixties. Author Roy Huggins, who lateron was successful with a row of series such as "The Rockford Files", "Maverick" and "The Fugitive", created two Martini-drinking private eye prototypes and their phrase-loving carpark guard "Kookie", which was copied over and over again ranging from "Ratpack Films" to "Riptide". The success of the German edition was mainly to the merits of Hans Clarin, who gave "Kookie" his unique and croaky voice.
