Cathy (Béatrice Dalle) is a prostitute fighting with the authorities for custody of her son Lucien when she is diagnosed with a brain tumor. Three months are all the time she has to get things in order – forever. A masterpiece: despite the precarious circumstances, director Fabrice Cazenave keeps the film from becoming a morally sour scene study or some sort of beatific idolization of the events. He hits the right tone, not just in the social limbo of the film but also in the existential limbo between life and death. A believable work, its credibility not lastly the result of the spectacular performance of Béatrice Dalle ("Betty Blue").
