The 19 year-old Davide is an orphan who lives with his brother in a suburb of the Italian city of Torino. After finishing school, he decides to spend the summer with his uncle in Northern Italy's Po valley. But the idyllic countryside around him is deceiving: love and hate, sex and death, and finally the all his great dreams going up in smoke, all this awaits Davide during this fateful summer. "L’Estate di Davide" is an "éducation sentimentale" all playing out within just a few weeks, a European rites-of-passage drama that does without the sentimentalism and sensationalism filmmakers usually fall back on when dealing with the theme of growing up.
