The friends Stretch and Spoon share everything, including their drugs. When their friend Cookie does not wake up after an overdose on New Year's Eve, the two drag her panicstricken to the hospital. Shocked by all this, Spoon makes a New Year's resolution: go clean. He quickly finds, however, that it is even harder to convince the American authorities of his new-found intensions than Stretch. With a posse of drug dealers and police in hot pursuit, the two friends are on the through Detroit just trying to survive. As a totally wasted junkie in Vondie Curtis Hall's directorial debut, a comedy about friendship, the hunger for living and bureaucratic insanity, Tim Roth shows his enormous talent for sarcastic, comical roles.
