According to her mother, whose companion has just left her, Maggie should actually be studying law, have a boyfriend and live in decent digs. But in fact, Maggie has quit her studies and lives in cramped quarters in the back room of a lesbian bookshop where she works. Just as a new lesbian relationship between Maggie and Kim is starting to blossom, Maggie’s mother and brother announce their impending visit. The film is a sympathetic comedy about the fact that you can’t get very far nowadays with conservative views.
