Angelina, the naive Italian waitress, falls in love with Mike. Mike, a cynical writer for photo-novels, suddenly realizes that he's resorting to all the trivial clichés he can't stand in his work. In spite of misunderstandings, language barriers and a hot-tempered fiancé, it all of course, comes to a happy end. "Boy Meets Girl" is a feather-weight romance with memorable highlights; a post-kitsch pastiche set in a 60's fictitious Little Italy, where cordless phones are the only anachronism and time sometimes quite literally stands still; a lavish play on the conventions of Hollywood's golden era of comedy and musical. In short, the epitome of the feel good TV movie. In the leading roles are Sean Astin ("Harrison Bergeron"), Emily Hampshire ("The Last Don") and Joe Mantegna, secretly running the show as a schmalz poet and cupid in cognito "Il Magnifico".
