The foundation of MTV in 1981 equaled the invention of 24-hour-music television. Fast, colourful and irreverent, MTV became the front-runner of a whole culture of watching TV. The programme has been defining trends again and again and setting new audiovisual standards with its innovative optics ever since. "MTV Alarm Worlwide" is a unique special, exclusively produced for the cult night of the Cologne Conference: In his loft, MTV VJ Christian Ulmen, supported by Will Smith, presents the highlights of the music TV pioneer's turbulent history in Greatest Moments on MTV (MTV US). It will be a reunion with cult figures as Ray Cokes (Most Wanted, MTV Europe) and legendary programmes as Beavis and Butthead. Unforgettable cult videos will be shown - the best of 17 years of clip history. Moreover the craziest pictures from the international MTV programme will be presented, legendary shows the European audience has not seen yet: Elvis lookalikes from Asia fighting for the title of the only true King of Rock'n'Roll (Out of the Box, MTV Asia), NBA star Dennis Rodman on World Tour (MTV US) and, unforgettable in the same way, the Olympic relay race with obstacles in Buzzkill (MTV US). Hanson and the Spice Girls wrestle in Celebrity Death Match (MTV US) for the title of the world's most (un)successful Teenie band. Further programmes from politics, sports and entertainiment demonstrate that MTV is more than merely music. Best of Partyzone is the cue for DJ James Hyman from club metropole London. The legendary producer of the show of the same name will present an adequate selection from his 60.000 strong collection of discs and will take care of a matching party atmosphere.
