Eyes & Ears of Europe is the only European association of professionals in the world of design, promotion and marketing of the audio-visual media. Eyes & Ears sponsors the theme-oriented discussion about positions, strategies and perspectives of presentation work for TV, radio and multimedia. Above all we support the development of new opportunities in the training and further education that goes along with the needs of the media business.
Meanwhile round-about twelve broadcasting stations, service enterprises and institutions in the world of training and further education are members of Eyes & Ears of Europe. Just one year ago this positive development was not be expected to this extend. Especially the events organized in 1997 helped to make Eyes & Ears of Europe better known in the trade public. "Look, listen, feel...", the big Eyes & Ears event at the Cologne Conference in June 1997, was followed by the summer academy "On-air promotion and trailer production", a co-production with the Bavarian Academy for television and the SZM-studios.
In September 1997 the workshop "TV design and trailer production" took place at the German Academy for Movie and Television in Berlin during the International Broadcasting Fair IFA. "TV marketing" was the topic of a debate at the "Akademie für Publizistik" in Hamburg in February 1998. In April, finally, "Chances and limits of virtual TV production" were discussed during the movie and media meeting in Stuttgart.
These events could only be successful because numerous representatives of broadcasting stations, service enterprises and institutions for training and further education were willing to give unselfishly of both their know-how and time to Eyes & Ears of Europe. Once again, thanks a lot for this.
"For your Eyes & Ears only...", this year's show case during the Cologne Conference on June 11 and 12 at the "Rheinterassen" will be dominated by the debate about international standards of quality in on-air promotion, sound-work and TV design.
The Eyes & Ears Conference 1998 would not have been possible without the generous support of the Cologne Savings Bank. Moreover, we thank the organizers of the Cologne Conference for their trustful help and co-operation in the past three years.
