They don't know what to do with their lives: Miyuki, the office worker who'll do anything for drugs; Ryo, the gang leader; Sato, who uses deadly gang wars to expand her reach of power; the Pakistani Cawl, who commits a violent crime for his Japanese girlfriend who then won't marry him after all; Hide, a small-town boy who gets swept along by the raging tides of the big city, and Myan, the whore who claims she's from America. The dark fates of these outsiders in modern Tokyo are all intertwined, but have nothing to do with the old blind woman who's daily life builds the framework for "Junkfood". With fascinating, stylized images underscored by a cool Drum 'n' Bass soundtrack, director Masashi Yamamoto creates a penetrating portrait of a disassociated generation.
