"Lukewarm is not interesting to me" says Chris Carter, writer-producer of "The X-Files", about his long awaited return, the crime horror series Millennium. The premise: as the year 2000 approaches, deranged psychopaths surface worldwide to commit murder and mayhem. A shadowy organization of people with different skills, the millennium Group, takes up the battle against those sinister forces. Frank Black retired early from the FBI serial killer unit. Determined to put behind him the death and destruction he encountered in ten years on the job, he returns home to Seattle with his family. There, Frank becomes a vital member of the Millennium Grup through his ability to recognize subtle clues and patterns which allow him to "crawl" into the minds of the killers and he finds himself back in the hunt. When launched, the show drew much attention for its dark, graphic images of crime and violence (with "Seven" art director Gary Wissner working on the pilot). Following a $10 million promotion campaign, "Millennium" premiered in the Friday-night "X-Files" slot with the highest debut rating in Fox history. Starring Lance Henriksen ("Close Encounters of the Third Kind", "Aliens").
