Nach Vorstellung ihrer Mutter, die soeben von ihrem Freund verlassen wurde, sollte Maggie eigentlich Jura studieren, einen Freund haben und repräsentativ wohnen. In Wirklichkeit hat Maggie das Studium geschmissen und lebt beengt im Hinterzimmer einer Lesben-Buchhandlung, in der sie auch arbeitet. Als sich eine neue lesbische Beziehung zwischen Maggie und Kim anbahnt, kündigen Maggies Mutter und Bruder ihren Besuch an. Der Film ist eine sympathische Komödie über die Tatsache, daß man mit konservativen Lebensvorstellungen heutzutage nicht allzuweit kommt.
